WELCOME!

Linda Skibski is a retired Orientation and Mobility Specialist for the blind and visually impaired, having taught in Michigan and Rhode Island for thirty-seven years.  In her retirement, she has launched a new avocation as an author of memoir and thought-provoking essays.  Her first book, Forever, Joanne:  A Story of Love, Loss, and Leaps of Faith, Stillwater River Publications (2021) is a memoir about her wife, their journey of love, her death from ovarian cancer and the miraculous spirit connections that followed.  A link to obtain the book is below.

Born and raised in Springfield, MA, Linda has a B.A. degree in Social Work from Eastern University near the Philadelphia area and a specialized M.Ed. degree in Peripatology (O&M) from Boston College, MA. Continually interested in her professional organization (AER), hand bell choir, and LGBTQ social groups, she also weaves golf, Pickleball, snowshoeing and camping into her days for fun. Throughout her life, writing had always been a passion despite the demands of work, travel and raising a daughter.  Now that her two kitties have trained her to slow down, she is free to pursue more writing adventures.

Every human being is a unique book.  Not everyone tells their story, but most of us like to hear themes we can relate to or learn from.  My life story is different from anyone else because it is mine alone.  I wrote “Forever, Joanne” so that the reader could come along as a friend visiting our home and traveling on our adventures.  My hope is that readers will expand their understanding of the profound love between two women, the difficult journey with ovarian cancer and the power of faith to heal the heart and soul.  When you hold my book, you hold my heart.
