From the initial excitement of unloading my car, rolling the suitcase filled with pristine books, and setting my table with flags, flowers and freebies, to the clamor of packing up hours later, I experienced my first Authors’ Expo on December 13 with apparent success and much gratitude.
Despite torrents of rain and wind outside, book enthusiasts of all ages and interests stopped in at the Crowne Plaza in Warwick, RI, to browse among a vast array of authors’ display tables and, of course, to purchase books. More importantly for me, impromptu conversations led to interesting connections with other authors who shared their stories and marketing ideas. Even Santa showed up!
With the stalwart assistance of my daughter and sister, I weathered the book-selling process with growing confidence as we interacted with readers and writers passing by. I sold quite a few books and look forward to future events!
My heartfelt thanks to all my faithful friends and family who braved the elements to come to the Expo and spend time at my table. Spotting familiar faces among the crowd meant a lot. I’m sure Joanne’s spirit was roaming around with a look of approval as well.
There may be other Zoom speaking opportunities and library displays in March as I connect with other RI authors, so stay tuned!
Peace and love to all in 2022.
